Pastor Royal J. Moore I is the founder of the Waterbury Worship Center. His testimony began in 1988 after accepting Christ as his personal Savior. This experience was followed by receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit in his bedroom at 2am on a Saturday morning, where Lord Jesus Christ appeared to him and spoke to him. Pastor Moore began attending Livingstone Assemby of God under the leadership of Pastor A.C. Washington until 1992.
After realizing his desire to "get those left behind", Pastor Moore began his Evangelist Misnistry on the streets of Waterbury, giving his testimony and proclaiming the salvation of Jesus Christ and holding weekly Bible studies in local drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers. The Lord inspired Pastor Moore in 1992 to write the outline for New Beginnings, a ministry dedicated to helping people rebuild their lives through the power of God's Word.
As an Ordained Elder in 1996, God impressed upon Pstor Moore's heart to minister to saints struggling in their walk and the door was opened at Living Faith Church Waterbury, CT and New Beginnings Overcomers Class was born. Pstor Moore saw many lives changed, rebuilt and strenghtened through this ministry. Not long after, Pastor Moore heard the call from God to the next phase of his walk, the Pastorate.
It was through much prayer and fasting that The Waterbury Worship Center was birthed and on Sunday, November 9, 2003 at 467 West Main Street Waterbury the doors were opened. July 18, 2004, Pastor Moore was installed Pastor by Bishop Joseph Norfleet, founder of United Churches in Christ (UCIC).
In 2006, Pastor Moore was impressed by God to change the name of the church to The Family Worship Center (TFWC) and shortly after the name change, families began to come and it was time to move. December 2008 found (TFWC) moving to its second location 567 Watertown Ave. Under Pastor Moore's conitnued leadership, (TFWC) had to move again in 2012 to 117 Sharon Road Mallview Plaza. It was at this location that Pastor Moore proclaimed, "next time we move, we will own the property."
God's call for promotion came again to Pastor Moore on February 23, 2014 when he was elevated to Superintendent of the 4th Jurisdiction of India COGIC under the leadership of Bishop Joseph Norfleet.
In May 2016, the prophetic word Pastor Moore spoke came to pass and God blessed The Family Worship Center to puchase its own edifice at 258 Montoe Road Waterbury and on July 16, 2016 the edifice was deidicated in the company of many family and friends. Today, TFWC's hearts cry is, "Look, what the Lord has done and it is marvelous in our eyes!"
